Location: Seattle, Washington
This $17 million project involved replacing the existing 30,000-square-foot shop building and a number of other modular structures at Seattle Central Community College with a new 70,000-square-foot building. The new building includes a two-story vocational shop wing with shops for the instruction of for cabinetmaking, carpentry, fiberglass boatbuilding and marine carpentry, and a two-story administration area housing reception, kitchen and lounge areas, general classrooms, a lecture hall, a computer lab and a library.
ORA was engaged to provide the following testing and inspection services:
- Soil nail grout
- Reinforced concrete
- Shotcrete
- Cold-formed steel framing
- Spray-applied fireproofing
- Steel seismic resistance system
- Structural steel fabrication and erection
- Nondestructive testing of welds
- Subsurface interface radar (locating services)
