This project consisted of two phases to provide additional academic space at the University of Washington Tacoma campus. Phase 3A consisted of the renovation/restoration of the three-story, 46,000-square-foot Russell T. Joy Building that will house general purpose classrooms and seminar rooms. Phase 3B consisted of the construction of a four-story 47,000-square-foot building that will provide library expansion, classrooms, faculty/ flexible offices, and other academic program/ support space. The estimated construction cost is $54.3 million.

ORA was engaged to provide the following testing and inspection services:
  • Reinforced concrete
  • Reinforced masonry
  • Shotcrete
  • Lateral framing/ metal studs
  • Proprietary anchors
  • Grouting of test piles
  • Built-up roofing inspection
  • Exterior cladding system
  • Floor flatness/ floor levelness testing
  • Structural steel fabrication and erection
  • Nondestructive testing of welds
  • Pull-out testing of anchors
