This estimated $18 million project involved a substantial alteration and seismic upgrade to combine the historic Furuya and Corgiat Buildings (originally constructed in 1900) into one single building for future office, retail, and restaurant use. Work included seismic upgrade, new mechanical and electrical systems, new restroom and circulation core. Two stories were added to the existing three-story Furuya Building, replicating the two stories removed during the 1940’s.

ORA was engaged to provide the following testing and inspection services:
  • Wood seismic resistance system
  • Cold-formed steel framing
  • Pull testing
  • Epoxy grouting
  • Reinforced concrete
  • Seismic tie installation
  • Spray fire-resistive materials
  • Structural steel fabrication and erection
  • Steel decking
