The original Belroy Apartment Building, built in 1931, is known for its Art Deco style and is recognized in Seattle architectural circles as one of the city’s first modernist buildings. This project involved the renovation of the interior of the 62-unit historic building, including new plumbing, wiring, flooring, appliances, and small improvements to the kitchens and bathrooms, and the construction of three new structures to the north, housing a total of 51 units. Two of the units form an L shape to complete a rectangular complex, while the third sits in the courtyard in the middle. ORA was engaged to perform geotechnical construction monitoring as well as structural special inspections and materials testing.
